Overview of game
The new DLC, Streets of Rage 4: Mr. X Nightmare brings something intimately new and meaningful to the modern classic; it provides a harder difficulty for gamers who want more out of their games. It’s impactful and has something to offer for basically any gamer – either if you like playing for fun or if you like a challenge.
After the strong reception during last year’s release of Streets of Rage 4, there were remained a few unanswered questions about potential future appearances regarding Max and Shiva. In our review, we opined that both characters had received a complete animation overhaul in both boss forms for their appearance as playable characters.
When publisher Dotemu announced the release of Mr. X Resurrection, a brand new DLC for their game, fans were giddy with excitement at the idea that this would be an addition to the previous title in the series. The rumor mill went into overdrive when it was revealed that there would be a special Survival mode included in this newest DLC, which promised that only the sharpest players,
the ones who truly knew how to master all aspects of combat to stay alive against wave after wave of Cerberus onslaught, could make it to take down their leader. So when potential rivals stepped up to try their hands at this monumental challenge, who are they going to find themselves squaring off against? You guessed it: Estel Aguirre returns to do battle with all three bosses Maximus, Shiva, and Zan!

Streets Of Rage 4 Mr. X Nightmare Gameplay
When compared to the original game, this DLC is like that special extra topping you only get on your ice cream birthday cake. The three new characters are all delightful to play and highly memorable; not necessarily worth it individually but more than welcome additions to the game. Estle, the Wolf Legend is the pure brawler of choice who’s like a powerful Werewolf with scales who can dish out tons of damage given her excellent horizontal spacing ability. Max, the Red Blaster is probably one of my favorites since he returns as his classic self;
who balances out Estel’s power entirely by being more about pushing enemies away instead which makes him perfect for crowd control situations. Finally, Judas – who has transformed into something beastly! He was always my personal favorite growing up so I’m super happy they didn’tShiva excels at keeping enemies on the defensive, and his wall-jump ability levels the playing field as they try to gain even a little bit of footing. He’ll keep any enemies that he manages to freeze in place for a beat before letting them go with a powerful uppercut. change up too much traditionally speaking except for how powerful he now traditionally feels.
What’s potentially even more impactful than these characters and levels is the Survival Mode, which an earlier trailer teased as being filled with roguelike design. This is indeed true, with up to four local players able to battle through randomized arenas filled with an impressive variance of enemies, bosses, hazards, and items to grab. After beating each level, a permanent upgrade can be added en route to
the next so that by the time you’ve beaten all three of them your character will have received a spruce-up making Streets of Rage 4’s combo-led scoring potential all the more potent! bonus jumps, elemental upgrades to abilities, AI companions, and stat buffs all combine and stack upon each other, ensuring that every route through (probable) defeat adds another twist or layer to the playthrough.
