Overview of game
The game is in Early Access and is updated frequently. Currently, one programmer works overtime and another does everything else full-time. The only things outsourced are the translations (currently WIP). So as much as we’d like to fix everything at once, it’s just not possible due to our limited manpower. We have to be realistic with our possibilities and prioritize. To make this easier, looking into the announcements on the Steam Community is important for keeping up to date on the development progress.
This way, a product manager can check whether or not game-breaking bugs have been fixed and what features our team has worked on. So, just to avoid any confusion: Project Downfall may seem like a Doom-like game with the 2d, sprite-based character designs. However, we’re trying to create a different kind of experience here: it’s an action-puzzle game with merciless consequences! The bullets in the game are both deadly for you and enemies alike–so be careful! You’ll need to plan your time efficiently, use the best materials to your advantage, distract adversaries by luring them into emptying their magazines and take advantage of when they are reloading. If you’re going to stay in the game, you need to adapt and react to change fast, or else you will likely fail or fall behind. We plan on making the game available in other languages after we iron out any issues we might find along the way.
Enter the main super city of Europe: Crimson Tide (nicknamed ‘Tide City’ by residents). This is an entirely new city type that has taken on many new features. It has sometimes been called the ‘agent of the future, showing how it symbolizes how humankind reached some of its highest peaks historically speaking. So it’s only natural that this great city had not one, but two frameworks to support it financially – both the EU/Transatlantic States and Nova Russian Federation.

Project Downfall is a triply, reflex-based shooter with adventure elements. It’s a mashup of the “Falling Down” movie and the styles in films like Hardcore Henry and John Wick, juxtaposed against hard-boiled, retro visuals for today’s audience. A dynamic soundtrack underscores the action you take when you explore this weird and dangerous world and adds an even deeper sense of immersion to Project Downfall!
You start your adventure in your apartment after another routine day at the office. How you experience the story is up to you! There may be multiple endings, for example, depending on which paths you choose. Will you strive for an ending that results in maximum mental stability, or one that will allow you to manage your emotions better? Or will there perhaps be more than one way of achieving it? Main missions will be accessed via your car outside the apartment.
It is also possible to visit the city with an updated version of the game which adds a free roam mode, allowing you to progress through other areas in your own time. Likewise, the council requested aid from Novorussia, but they were denied because Crimson Tide was then included in sanctions against Russia due to problems with terrorism within its territory. Governing parties are not political, but rather economical, pointing to a new direction of leading nations. Gone are the days of political parties, replaced by voting with your wallet for the corporate entity which provides everyday life with the highest benefits. Leading corporate entities deal most of the cards, keeping their citizens in check with mandatory medication.
